Black Friday 2016: How to get the best deals

If you’re looking to start your Christmas shopping early or hope to bag a bargain, don’t miss out on Black Friday deals.

Held exactly one month before Christmas Day, the likes of Amazon, Boots, Tesco, John Lewis and Currys have announced they will be taking part in the retail shopping bonanza.

What is Black Friday?

Held on November 25, Black Friday will see major stores slash prices to an all time low on items like electricals, laptops, games consoles, homeware, toys and clothes.

Originally celebrated in America, the day after Thanksgiving, it has now become one of the biggest shopping days in the UK.

Find out which shops will be taking part in the sales and what items you can expect to see on offer.

On November 2 Amazon launched its Black Friday deals page and you can sign up to the sites newsletter to be one of the first to know when the deals begin.

The selection of deals on offer will include electronics, toys, pet supplies, clothing, jewellery and more.

Although Amazon’s discounts are expected to be amazing there is limited availability on products so if you already have an item in mind that you want to buy you’ll have to act quickly on the day.

The online retailers will also do flash sales – these are time-limited offers on items and they will appear on the site unannounced throughout the day.

The supermarket chain slashes prices to all time lows on Black Friday on a wide range of goods. The deals on TVs and electricals are particularly popular amongst shoppers.

Naturally the supermarket won’t be unveiling its deals until November 25 but if last year’s sales are anything to go by expect big reductions on TVs, Playstations, Xboxs, iPads and home furniture.

If scrapping over a TV in a supermarket aisle doesn’t sound like your idea of retail therapy you can also shop online.

If you can’t wait until November 25 eBay has already launched its Black Friday page and is adding daily deals in the run up to the big day – shop now and get 47% off a 43-inch Phillips TV.

On the day itself expect reductions on laptops, the most-wanted toys, smartphones and tablets.

Register your interest online and you will be alerted when the sales begin – last year online sales kick-started at 6am.

Buy your deals online and choose click and collect at the checkout on Black Friday . You can collect them in store as soon as they are available. Alternatively head down to your local Argos for bargains or shop online and have items delivered to your address.

The store currently has seasonal sales and offers on toys , furniture and £50 off selected laptops.

You’ll find offers in home, electricals and technology, computers and TVs. The discounts will also be handy for people wanting to pick up designer fashion and accessories.

The department store will launch its sales online around midnight Thursday 24 November which will continue throughout the weekend where more offers will be launched.

Whether you’re treating yourself to some perfume or aftershave, or looking for that special Christmas electrical beauty gift there will be something for everyone at Boots.

Last year the high street retailer launched hundreds of deals on beauty, perfume, toys and electrical ranges, and we expect similar discounts to run both online and in-store for 2016.
