Corporate Five Aside: SWAN’S late rally too late


NPA defeated SWAN 3-2 in a hard -fought encounter at the football pitch of Silverbird Communications on Thursday to reach the final of this year’s Corporate Five-A-Side football competition.

The Seasiders led comfortably two nil in the first half through an Abbey Dike’s brace. However a rejuvenated SWAN leveled scores in the second half with a brace from inspirational captain, Damiete Sanipe.

Captain of NPA, Tammy Loveday, scored a wonder goal with almost the last kick of the match to give his side victory and sailed into the final with two wins from two matches.

Coach of NPA, Michael Cookey told our correspondent after the match that he is happy the team made it to the final and looked forward to lifting the trophy on Saturday.

On his part, Temple Igani, who played for SWAN, blamed goalkeeping error for the loss and argued that they were better than NPA.

NPA will now take on NDDC in the final on Saturday while the final will be preceded with the third place match between SWAN and Silverbird by 3pm.

Organizers of the competition have in the meantime expressed joy with the success of the competition so far.
