The Closing Ceremony took place on the 22nd of April 2017 at the Edo Boys High School Cricket Oval filled to its maximum capacity and a host of Dignitaries as well.

The day began with selected sides from the secondary school league in an exhibition match of 10 overs to the amazement of the spectators present.

Templars Sponsor Mr Olumida Akpata was overwhelmed by the inclusion of female Cricketers in the team and display of proper skills.

The Secondary School league exhibition match was followed by 12 overs game of the senior league.

Quick action saw the selected side wearing the League Champions Jersey scored 90 runs in 12 overs for the loss of 7 wickets and the selected side wearing the Runner up Jersey chasing down the score in 11 overs with the loss of 7 wickets.

In his Remarks, the man responsible for the re-birth and re-launch of Cricket in the state and the Chairman Edo State Cricket Association, Mr Uyi Akpata congratulated everybody for their support and hard work in making sure the maiden edition was a success, stressing that the passion exhibited by the stake holders and players in Edo was the catalyst by which he agreed to get involved.

In his words, the Primary Objective of the Edo State Cricket Board was to reignite the interest of the game across all levels in the state and I am glad by the Grace of Almighty God, we have firmly established the platform for the game to grow in the years ahead.

President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation Engr. Emeka Onyeama who was in attendance also expressed his delight in what is happening in Edo state acknowledging the fact that more individuals and corporate sponsors should rise up across Nigeria and develop the game in their various State.

The President in his goodwill message to the state, explained that Edo State in the South-South region has always been a power house in the development of Cricket and his heart is gladdened that the factory that have manufactured excellent cricketers for the country have finally been revived.

He concluded that the bedrock of his administration has always been Grassroot development and the Edo State Secondary school league is worthy of emulation and applause.
