A socio-political group, Initiative for Change and Development ICD, has blasted Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike over the renewed killings that took place in the State in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area on new year eve.
ICD in a statement by its Director General Ichenwo Glory frowned at the Governor’s inability to tackle security challenges in Rivers State.
Ichenwo Glory stated that Governor Wike should sit up or resign if he could not provide Rivers people with adequate protection of lives and properties.
”It is quite unfortunate that the lives of citizens of our dear Rivers State have continued to be in danger even as we have entered the new year 2018. It is quite an unhealthy one for us. As a group that places development at the centre, the *Initiative For Change & Development(ICD)* condemns in totality the recent killing that took place in Onelga axis of Rivers State”.
”The act is very barbaric and under developing. While we call on the sponsors of such dastardly act to think again and repent from the widely unaccepted evil, we also call on the government of Rivers State to sit-up to its full responsibilities of ensuring that the state is always safe.
”We cannot continue living in fear, as a people, if we must grow beyond were we are today. The government of Rivers State should step-up its game of protecting lives and properties in the state” he stated.
ICD also called on the security agencies to beef up survelliance in and around the state so as to prevent such acts from repeating itself again.
