The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued the certificate of return to Uche Ogah as Abia state governor.
Oluwole Osaze-Uzi, INEC’s director of publicity, says this follows an order by the Abuja Federal High Court mandating the commission to immediately issue Certificate of Return to Uche Ogah who polled the second highest number of votes in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Abia state.
On Monday, June 27, a court in Abuja, asked INEC to cease the Certificate of Return issued to Okezie Ikpeazu.
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, sacked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for allegedly submitting false information to his party, ahead of PDP’s governorship primary in December 2014.
Justice Abang said Ikpeazu was never qualified to run in the primaries as a governorship candidate.
The judge also ordered the Chief Judge of the state to swear in Ogah as the substantive governor of Abia state.
