Jennifer Lopez just dropped her latest single, and as expected, it’s got us dancing in our chairs.
The new single, “Ain’t Your Mama,” empowers women with some finger-wagging lyrics about not cooking or doing anyone’s laundry for a man-child who sits around and plays video games all day.
Lyrics aside, however, the beat takes on a mix of a Latin and reggaetón feel (as is typical with several of J.Lo’s songs) and is something we could totally see ourselves shaking our hips to in the club.
The new hit was produced by Dr. Luke written by Meghan Trainor and Jacob Kashner, which is why we shouldn’t be surprised that the song’s message definitely gives us similar vibes to many of the 22-year-old singer’s songs, like “No,” “Dear Future Husband,” and “Lips Are Movin.”
“Ain’t Your Mama” marks the first single that J.Lo will be releasing through her recently signed deal with Epic Records. In March, it was announced that she had signed a new long-term contract with the Sony Music-owned label after departing back in 2010.
The new track is currently available on Spotify, and fans will be able to download it after J.Lo performs it for the first time, live during the American Idol finale on Thursday night.
