Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) players observed a minute silence before the start of the Match Day Two of the NPFL Super Four played yesterday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu in solidarity to the 19 players of Chapecoense and others that lost their lives in a tragic plane crash in Colombia last week.

Chapecoense, a Brazilian side, were heading for Colombia to honour the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final before they met their untimely death along with 52 others including crew members, journalists and others that were on the trip and the world has been mourning their death before the NPFL players decided to follow suit yesterday in the two matches played.

Players of the four teams and their officials and others at the stadium stood up and stayed quietly for a minute before a round of applause at the end of the one minute silence.

The Chapecoense players were later posthumously bestowed the Copa Sudamericana title as a sign of respect to those that lost their lives in the ill-fated crash.
