NNL: Go Round FC fall at Nnewi

A 90th minute free kick converted, condemned Go Round FC to their first defeat in 7 league games as they lost 2-1 to Nnewi United.

It was a game Go Round needed to get a result in as Bayelsa United were breathing down their necks for a promotion ticket but they fell to an early goal in the first half scored by Emeka Joseph.

A few minutes into the 2nd half and Ekunta Etenfa converted a penalty kick to draw Go Round level, but just when it seemed the game was about to end in a stalemate, the home side struck with the winner to send Go Round back to Omoku empty handed.

With the loss and Bayelsa United’s 1-0 win at home to FC Papillo, Go Round drop to 3rd place, one point behind United as the promotion race goes to the last day.

Go Round FC now have to win their season ending at home to First Bank and hope that Bayelsa United do not win at Osun United so that they finish 2nd and qualify for the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.

Heartland, courtesy of their 1-0 win against First Bank in Lagos have been promoted to the NPFL, just one year after they were relegated.
