After a domineering performance against Dakkada F.C of Uyo and a little above average display against Warri Wolves in Enugu in a matchday 8 and 9, 2020/2021 fixtures, Rangers International F.C’ gaffer, coach Salisu Yusuf has assured the club’ numerous supporters that his wards were in the right frame of mind to challenge for the maximum points in the remaining fixtures for the season including this weekend’ trip to Okigwe for a date with Abia Warriors F.C.
The vastly experienced tactician made this revelation after the 1-0 victory over Warri Wolves F.C in Enugu stressing that his players have internalized 75% of what he and his assistants have been impacting on them.
“Sincerely, what I saw of the players in the game with Dakkada and Warri Wolves is convincing enough for me to say that we are near where we want to be. With more of such performances, I see us challenging for all three points at stake in every match we play. We expect a tough encounter in Okigwe against Abia Warriors but our target remains the same, to fight for the maximum points at stake,” stated Yusuf.
Captain of the Enugu landlords, Tope Olusesi in a chat said, “We respect every team we play because there is no more any small team in the league but we approach the game against Abia Warriors and our former coach, Imama Amapakabo, with the mindset that the match is a cup final. Our target is to get all three points at stake to steady our position to be crowned league champions at the end of the season.”
Rangers occupy the fifth position on the twenty-team log after nine rounds of matches with seventeen points having won five, drawn two, and lost two matches scoring ten times and having its defense breached six times.
Abia Warriors who are coached by the ‘Flying Antelopes’ title-winning gaffer, coach Imama Amapakabo have been on the upward swing since matchday five when he got an ultimatum after losing its first four matches of the season with a 4-1 demolition of Sunshine Stars on matchday 8 still reverberating in their consciousness despite the 2-1 loss to Dakkada in Uyo at the weekend.
