There’s no doubt about it: Rihanna and Beyoncé are the top divas in the industry right now, both making major moves, kickin’ booty and takin’ names while doing it!
But, sharing a similar drive for success, do they ever find themselves in a bit of a rivalry?
However, Rihanna dished on the rumors in the latest issue of Vogue and said that’s simply not the way her mind works.
“Here’s the deal,” she told the publication. “[People] just get so excited to feast on something that’s negative. Something that’s competitive. Something that’s, you know, a rivalry. And that’s just not what I wake up to. Because I can only do me. And nobody else is going to be able to do that.”
She definitely has a point there! With her take-it-or-leave-it approach to life, her sense of style and her determination to break boundaries, Rih has proven time and time again that there’s no need to compare her to other artists because, simply put, no one compares!
Case in point: her unapologetic demeanor for some of her most controversial moments.
When asked about her daringly revealing CFDA dress in 2014 that sparked lots of conversation, she said, “I just liked it better without the lines underneath. Could you imagine the CFDA dress with a bra? I would slice my throat. I already wanted to, for wearing a thong that wasn’t bedazzled. That’s the only regret I have in my life.”
She takes that kind of boundary-pushing mentality into her fashion design with Puma as well. Most of her creations are unisex for a reason.
“I always wanted to do what my brothers were doing,” she told Vogue. “I always wanted to play the games they played and play rough and wear pants and go outside.
Women feel empowered when they can do the things that are supposed to be only for men, you know? It breaks boundaries, it’s liberating, and it’s empowering when you feel like, Well, I can do that, too.”
