RSG arrests school proprietress for operating illegally


The Rivers State Government has arrested a private school proprietress for allegedly removing the State Government’s seal and opearting illegally.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Dagogo Hart, ordered the arrest of the proprietress after routine inspection of the school situated at the Rex Lawson street in Port Harcourt.

Dagogo Hart stated that the action of the school proprietress is a total disregard to the constituted authority.

He noted that the school will remained sealed because it did not meet up the standard requirements for school operation in Rivers State.

The Permanent Secretary enjoined operators of private schools in the State to utilize the open door policy of the Ministry to bring their concerns to the State Government, pointing out that the Wike led government is determined to meeting international best practice in the education sector.

He wondered how a two bedroom flat she rented for private residence could over-night turn into a school for creche, nursery school and secondary school.

Dagogo Hart also said that the arrest would serve as a deterrent to other school owners in the state.
