The Rivers State says its commitment to the safety of lives and properties of residents is not negotiable.
The state Commissioner for Transport Akie Fubara said this at a meeting with Brigade commander of the 2nd Brigade, Nigeria Army at Bori Camp in Port-Harcourt.
This was contained in a statement by the Press officer of the state ministry of Transport, Owupele Benibo
Akie Fubara expressed worry over frequent attacks on commercial boat passenger by sea pirates and hoodlums which has led to the loss of lives and properties on our water ways in the state.
The Commissioner for Transport, Akie Fubara said he had useful deliberations with security agencies in other to provide safe corridor for the commercial boats in the state.
Meanwhile, the commissioner Akie Fubara urged members of the public to always provide useful information to secure agencies from prompt action.
