RSG committed to sports development-Iyaye


Rivers State Government has re-iterated its stand to improve the development of sports in the State.

The Commissioner for Sports Rivers State Hon. Boma Iyaye made this asstertion during his meeting with the Directors of the various departments in the sports ministry.

Boma Iyaye who was just re-appointed by Governor Nyesom Wike said there was need to take sports to a new, enviable and greater height in the State

Iyaye during the meeting also set up a five man committee to seek for ways to improve on the successes recorded in the sports sector in recent times.

The terms of reference of the committee is
i) To help organize a State Stakeholders meeting that will come up in October.
ii) The meeting is expected to discuss salient issues in the sporting sector so as to interact with the sporting community in the State.
iii) Members of the committee must cut across every sporting association
iv) The committee has one week to submit its report.

The Commissioner for Sports Rivers State Hon.Boma Iyaye also called on the directors to co-operate and work as a team so as to achieve the much desire in the area of sports.

The members of the committee include:
Mr.J.J.Kio – Director Sports – Chairman
Mr.Nathaniel Piaro – Director Sports Institute – Member
Mr.Godwin Ogan – Director Sports Development – Member
Mr.Nwaka – Director Stadia Authority – Member
Mr.Seiprebo Nimifa – S/A to the Hon.Commissioner – Member

In his remark, the Acting Permanent Secretary Ministry of Sports, Rivers State, Mr.Adue Stephen welcomed back Boma Iyaye and expressed his appreciation for the laudable plans the commissioner has for sports and its continued development in the State
