RSU to commence bid for the construction of three new campuses

The Rivers State University says bidding for the award of contracts for the three new campuses of the institution will commence next week.

 

The bidding is for the new campuses at Emohua, Etche, and Ahoada local government areas.

 

The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University Prof Nlerum Okogbule said this during a press conference to celebrate his one year in office.

 

The Rivers State Government under the leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike had released 16.6 billion naira for the construction of the three new campuses of Rivers State University.

 

Prof Nlerum Okogbule during the event said the institution will continue to conduct researches that will benefit the state and the world at large.

 

Okogbule also said that despite the coronavirus pandemic, the institution has tremendous achievement in areas of research, environmental sanitation, the introduction of online studies, construction of new projects in the university, and promotion of academic and non-academic staff.

 

The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University also commended the security agencies, host communities, and the students for their collaboration in maintaining peace and security in the institution.

 

Nlerum Okogbule said the peaceful atmosphere at the school has now made it a university of choice.

 

He also commended the State Government for the numerous infrastructural projects in the university.

 

The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University Prof Nlerum Okogbule also said the institution is working hard to get more accreditation by the Nigeria Universities Commission for more courses in the university.

 

He said that the school has gotten an accreditation for the department of Library and Information Sciences, Computer Engineering, and Environmental Management.

 

Okogbule noted that the institution will soon make a presentation at the African Union on their achievements in the internal voting system.

 

He said the internal voting system was what they used during the Students Union elections and similar elections.

 

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution assured of a total transformation of the university in the next four years.

 

Our correspondent report that Prof Nlerum Okogbule was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University by Governor Nyesom Wike on 5th March 2020.

 

Prof Nlerum Okogbule also marks his one-year celebration by planting a tree at the administrative block of the university.
