A 27-year-old man, Monday Efe, has been arrested by the Edo State Police Command for allegedly robbing a commercial sex worker after a romp of sex with her in a hotel within Ofunmwegbe town in Benin, the state capital.
The suspected robber had approached the woman at the hotel on Monday for her services and had negotiated and reached an agreement with the commercial sex worker, after which she reportedly offered him her services, the Punch learnt.
While in the act, the suspect allegedly brought out a gun and ordered her to surrender the valuable items in her possession.
The frightened victim was reportedly dispossessed of her belongings, after death threats from Efe.
Subsequently, the victim was said to have raised the alarm the moment the suspect made his way out of the room.
This led to the arrest of the suspect by some policemen and vigilance group operating in the area.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Osifo Abiodun, was said to have confirmed the arrest.
He said a locally-made pistol was recovered from the suspect.
Abiodun said, “On Monday at about 11.40pm, a commercial sex worker, reported that she was sitting in front of a hotel in Ofunmwegbe town when one Efe Monday, aged 27, approached her for sex.
“While they were inside the room, the suspect, with the aid of a locally-made pistol, robbed her of her belongings.
“Immediately the suspect left the room, she raised the alarm.
“This attracted police operatives and members of a vigilance group in the area and he was arrested.
“The suspect confessed to the crime,” the PPRO added.
