A mother is accused of murdering her daughter just minutes after the tot was born.
Giniate Suminaite was arrested on Wednesday after an ambulance was called to a house in Bognor Regis.
The baby girl was pronounced dead on the scene.
Sussex Police said the newborn died “a few minutes” after she was born.
A spokesman said: “The baby girl was sadly confirmed dead at the scene and the mother taken to hospital for urgent medical treatment.
“The baby was newborn, a few minutes old. Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder.”
In a picture of Suminaite, she smiles and leans back as she poses on a wooden bench, dressed in a crop top and a bright blue cardigan.
She was arrested after an ambulance was called to a house on Aldwick Road, Bognor Regis, at 8.37am on Wednesday.
Suminaite was taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester for urgent medical treatment.
She was arrested on Friday after being released from hospital and charged with murder.
