YOGA FOR THE PROSTATE GLAND
WHAT IS THE PROSTATE?
The prostate is part of reproductive organ in men, the prostate contains sperm that is released during ejaculation, it’s a small walnut size gland located between the bladder and the penis, wraps around the urethra between the pubic bone and the rectum, and it’s actually below the bladder. so as the prostate becomes bigger it squeezes the urethra more and more tight making it more narrow for free urine flow, this could also lead to urinary tract infection or kidney damage.
As men advances in age, naturally the prostate degenerates, with some bedroom and bathroom symptoms, such as difficulty in urination, the urine not hitting the ceiling, low libido, impotency, irresistible urine flow, or even blood in the urine.
The prostate can be weak or cancerous, so it’s very important to go for regular comprehensive medical check.
Yoga is a scientific sport medicine which works specifically and deeply on the nerves, lungs & glands, because yoga really focuses more on the activation of chakras which are also known as vortices which also corresponds with the major endocrine glands. so our focus or targeted program here will mainly be around the 1st, chakra which helps in correcting and preventing prostate enlargement; medically speaking research has it that, the cause of prostate enlargement is not too clear, though some experts says, it could be as a result of increase in the number of cells (hyperplasia) though there are other attributed factors, such as lack of vitamin E, increase in androgens (male hormones) etc.
FIRST LET’S QUICKLY TAKE A LOOK AT THE FIRST CHAKRA WHICH IS THE ROOT CHAKRA.
- The root chakra (muladhara chakra which is also seen as the pelvic plexus, and this chakra has direct connection with the reproductive glands (testes in men, ovaries in women) this chakra controls sexual development and secretes sex hormones; and it also works on the prostate as a vital part of male reproductive organ: chakras influence our well being at different levels:
So let’s look at this breathing exercises that benefits the prostates, not just the prostate alone, also asthma, respiratory related issues, allergies, sinus, obesity, diabetes, constipation, kidney related issues, and majorly prostate gland which is our focus here.
