Barcelona consider renaming Nou Camp after Johan Cruyff

On Tuesday, Barcelona’s board of directors will meet, to discuss the possiblity of renaming the Nou Camp after Johan Cruyff.
The club are seeking ways to pay posthomous tribute to the Dutch legend, who died of cancer at the age of 68 last Thursday.

Cruyff won La Liga and Copa del Rey as a Barcelona player, before helping him win a number of titles and the European Cup in 1992 as coach.

According to Catalan sport daily, Sport, a ‘thundering cry’ from the Blaugrana faithful is for their famous stadium to be renamed after Cruyff.

The Dutch Football Association (KNVB), have already announced that they will rename the Amsterdam Arena after Cruyff in tribute to the three-time Ballon d’Or winner.

KNVB president, Michael van Praag, said: “I can’t wait for the moment when we rename our stadium the Johan Cruyff Arena. It’s the best tribute we can pay him.”
