Abia Warriors bounced back to winning ways yesterday against tough Akwa United team at the Umuahia township stadium in one of the Match-day (22) fixture.
Determined Abia Warriors were the first to break the deadlock as Asiegbu Shedrack was the quickest to react to his miss spot-kick which was parried to his path by Akwa United goalkeeper.
The visitors drew level with just 10minutes left in the normal game duration as former Rivers United defender Samuel Gbadebo blasted his team into level terms as he connected with Morice inswinger amidst a crowded wall.
Abia Warriors sensational winger Emmanuel Ugwuka stole the show after 5mins of coming off the bench for Yakub Hammed.
Petit winger Anthony Okemmiri recorded his second assist of the game as he combined beautifully with rampaging Paul Samson and set up on rushing Ugwuka and the latter made no mistake as he places the ball beyond the goalkeeper reach.
The feisty encounter was the first home game in charge for the interim head coach Willy Udube and the Imo state born tactician beamed with all smiles while talking to the media in the post-match interview.
